BLACK BANDIT COLLECTION CONTINUES IN 1:64 SCALE

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 7, 2009) – The Black Bandit® Collection was first introduced in 2004 as single-release premium die-cast cars in 1:64 scale under license to two die-cast model car manufacturers, including GreenLight® Collectibles.  The first seven cars, produced under the Johnny Lighting brand, were the VW Bus, VW Beetle, 1970 Mustang Boss 302, 1949 Merc, 1963 Split Window Corvette, 1967 Chevy Camaro and 1950 VW Split Window Beetle. The next two were Greenlight promotional cars – a 1971 Dodge Charger and a 1968 Ford Mustang GT 2+2 Fastback. In the Spring of 2008 Black Bandit was transformed into a 6-car set, mass produced by GreenLight for exclusive distribution through Toys ‘R’ Us stores nationwide and Hobby Distributors/Wholesalers around the globe. 

This latest issue of the Black Bandit Collection continues the long-standing legacy of this highly coveted collector series.  Black Bandit Series 3 includes the following six vehicles:

- 1:64 1966 Ford Galaxie 500
- 1:64 1967 Ford Mustang GT Fastback
- 1:64 1970 Pontiac GTO "Judge" Convertible
- 1:64 1977 Dodge Ramcharger
- 1:64 2006 Chevy Camaro Concept
- 1:64 2008 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T

All six cars from Series 3 are available now at Toys ‘R’ Us stores nationwide and through GreenLight Hobby Distributors/Wholesalers and Online Dealers.

Each car is produced with a triple-black theme; black body paint, black interior detail and custom black wheels. The triple-black theme is the distinguishing characteristic of these “outlaw” vehicles. Besides the distinctive paint job each car will feature real rubber tires, metal body chassis, detailed graphics, engines and custom license plates, clamshell packaging, and sequentially numbered base. All the cars are officially licensed by General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler, LLC.

In addition to 1:64 Black Bandits, 1:24 Black Bandits were manufactured exclusively for Toys ‘R’ Us earlier in 2009.  These 1:24 models, which include a 1:24 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Hardtop, 1995 Chevrolet Corvette, 2007 Shelby GT500 and 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, are currently available at Toys ‘R’ Us stores and at www.toysrus.com.
